What We Believe

At Edgewood Church, everything begins and ends with Jesus.

We exist to glorify God, love people sincerely, and make disciples who live out their faith every day. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture, shaped by a long legacy of historic Christianity, and expressed through our partnership with Converge—a global movement of churches committed to starting and strengthening churches.
Below is an overview of what guides us, followed by our full Affirmation of Faith for those who want to explore deeper.

Christ at the Center

We believe Jesus Christ is the source of forgiveness, salvation, transformation, and eternal life. Everything we teach and everything we do flows from who He is and what He has done.

The Bible Is Our Foundation

We trust the Bible as the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It forms our beliefs, shapes our lives, and anchors our mission.

The Gospel Shapes How We Live

Following Jesus is not just belief — it is a way of life. We seek to love God wholeheartedly, love others sacrificially, grow in maturity, and live as faithful witnesses in our homes, workplaces, and communities.

A Church Rooted in Relationship

We believe the Church is both universal and local — a family of believers centered on Christ, called to worship, serve, and share the good news together.

Our Connection to Converge

Edgewood Church is part of Converge, a historic movement of evangelical churches committed to biblical faithfulness, healthy leadership, global missions, and starting new churches. Converge provides support, accountability, and shared mission beyond our walls.

Our Affirmation of Faith

Scripture and the Nature of God
We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts. It is our final authority for faith, life, and doctrine.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21)
We believe in one living and true God who eternally exists in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in divine perfection and unified in purpose.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Isaiah 43:10–11)
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
God the Father
Perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love, the Father hears prayer and saves all who come to Him through Christ.
(Psalm 103:13; John 3:16–17; Romans 8:15–16)

Jesus Christ
God’s only Son, fully God and fully human — virgin-born, sinless, miraculous, and authoritative in His teaching. He died a substitutionary death, rose bodily, ascended to heaven, intercedes for His people, and will return visibly.
(Luke 1:31–35; John 1:1–14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 7:25; Acts 1:9–11)

The Holy Spirit
Sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, regenerate and sanctify believers, indwell every follower of Christ, and empower them for godly living.
(John 14:16–17; John 16:7–15; Titus 3:5; Galatians 5:16–25)
Salvation and the Christian Life
All people are sinners by nature and by choice and stand in need of salvation.
(Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)

Those who repent and trust in Jesus Christ are forgiven, justified, made new by the Holy Spirit, and adopted as children of God.
(Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5–7; John 1:12; Romans 5:1)

Followers of Jesus are called to live for God's glory, pursue holiness, love others, serve with humility, steward their lives faithfully, and grow toward maturity in Christ.
(Matthew 5:16; Galatians 5:22–23; 1 Peter 4:10; Colossians 1:10)
The Church and Its Mission
The universal Church is the spiritual body of Christ made up of all believers everywhere.
(1 Corinthians 12:12–13; Ephesians 4:4–6)
The local church is a gathered community of baptized believers who worship, grow, serve, and carry out the mission of Jesus.
(Acts 2:41–47; Hebrews 10:24–25)
We believe God calls the church to proclaim the gospel to the world, making disciples of all nations.
(Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8)
Ordinances, Liberty, and Last Things
Baptism — immersion of a believer in water as a public declaration of faith and union with Christ.
(Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3–4)

The Lord’s Supper — a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a proclamation of His return.
(1 Corinthians 11:23–26)

We affirm religious liberty and the independence of the local church under the authority of Christ.
(Romans 14:12; Galatians 5:1)

We believe Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly; there will be a resurrection of the body, final judgment, eternal life for the redeemed, and eternal separation from God for the unrepentant.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20:11–15; Matthew 25:31–46)
