Compensation: $22–$35/hour OR $1,200–$2,500/month stipend ($15,000–$30,000 annually depending on experience). Additional considerations: ministry expense budget, retreats/conference support, mileage reimbursement, flexible schedule, and a potential pathway to an expanded role in the future.

About the Role

Edgewood Church (approx. 125 attendees) in Edmonds, Washington is seeking a part-time Youth Pastor to lead and disciple middle and high school students. This role focuses on biblical teaching, relationship-building, and developing a healthy, sustainable youth ministry that integrates into the life of the church.

If you're someone who loves students, teaches Scripture with conviction, and wants to build something sustainable rather than flashy, this is a place where your work will actually matter.

What You’ll Own

  • Youth discipleship & teaching — Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings (teaching, discussion, prayer); teach biblically sound and engaging lessons; encourage spiritual growth through Scripture and community
  • Relationship building — Develop meaningful relationships with students, provide mentorship and spiritual guidance, and connect with students outside of weekly programming when appropriate
  • Parent & church integration — Communicate regularly with parents, partner with families in discipling students, and collaborate with church leadership and staff
  • Volunteer development — Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers; build a strong, team-based youth ministry
  • Events & outreach — Plan retreats, service projects, and outreach nights; encourage student involvement in the broader church body
  • Administration — Manage youth calendar and communication, oversee ministry logistics and scheduling, and ensure safety policies are followed

What Success Looks Like

After your first 6 months, you'll have:
  • Weekly youth gatherings running consistently with biblical teaching at the core
  • Meaningful relationships established with students and their parents
  • A trained, dependable team of adult volunteers supporting the ministry
  • A clear rhythm of events, outreach, and integration with the broader church body

Requirements

  • Growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Agreement with Edgewood Church's statement of faith
  • Experience working with youth (church or related setting)
  • Strong communication and teaching ability
  • Organized, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • Willingness to complete a background check (required)

Nice to Have

  • Bible college or ministry training
  • Prior youth ministry leadership experience
