Part Time Worship Leader
Part-Time Music Director Lead Sunday worship that's biblically grounded, musically excellent, and built around the congregation.
Location: Edmonds, Washington (in person) Schedule: 10–15 hours per week — includes Sunday services, rehearsal time, planning, and occasional special events
Compensation: $23–$32/hour depending on experience and skill level (estimated annual range: $12,000–$25,000). Additional considerations: ministry-related expenses may be covered, flexible scheduling, opportunities for special event compensation, and potential for an expanded role over time.
Reports to: Senior Pastor (works alongside church staff and volunteer ministry teams)

About the Role
Edgewood Church in Edmonds, Washington is seeking a part-time Music Director to lead and develop a vibrant, Christ-centered music ministry. This role works closely with pastoral leadership to plan and lead worship that is biblically grounded, theologically sound, and engaging for the congregation.

What You’ll Own
- Worship planning & leadership — Plan and direct music for weekly worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor; lead congregational singing and coordinate all musical elements of the service; select music that reflects Baptist theology and supports the weekly sermon
- Team leadership & development — Lead and direct musicians, singers, and instrumentalists; organize and conduct regular rehearsals for all vocalists and musicians; recruit, train, and develop volunteers for the music ministry
- Ministry coordination — Oversee scheduling and communication for all music team members; coordinate the use and care of instruments, sound, and media equipment; manage the church's music library and ensure proper licensing compliance
- Special services & events — Plan and arrange music for Christmas, Easter, weddings, funerals, and outreach events
- Administration & collaboration — Maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with church staff, leadership, and volunteers; assist in preparing and managing the annual music ministry budget; ensure compliance with legal, copyright, and safety requirements
What Success Looks Like
After your first 6 months, you'll have:
- Sunday worship running with consistent, sermon-aligned music and smooth service flow
- A trained, dependable team of vocalists and musicians rehearsing regularly
- Licensing, scheduling, and equipment care handled with clear systems
- Special services (Christmas, Easter, etc.) planned and ready well in advance

Requirements
- Personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ
- Agreement with Edgewood Church's statement of faith and Baptist doctrine
- Experience in church music leadership or a similar role
- Ability to lead congregational worship and direct musicians effectively
- Strong communication and team-building skills
- Organized, dependable, and self-motivated
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in both traditional and contemporary worship styles
- Experience with music planning or presentation software (e.g., ProPresenter, Planning Center, PowerPoint)
- Formal musical training or ministry experience
